WATERCOLOR CLASS - Snowy Winter Landscapes       10am to 3pm

It's January.  In Minnesota.  It's cold, and you want to get out of the house.  Let's make the best of it by painting our beautiful winter landscapes in watercolor.  Includes birch trees, snow covered pines, winter skies, bare trees and deep cast shadows on snow.  For those with some watercolor experience.  Bring reference photos if you have them, or you can use mine, plus basic watercolor supplies.  Class is held at Gallery G in the Northrup King Building.

WATERCOLOR CLASS - Fast, Fun Figures in Watercolor     10 am to 4 pm

Conquer your fear of putting figures in your watercolors.  This easy 3-step progression will boost your confidence and skill in painting simple clothed people.  Includes "ghost images," contour shapes, gestural figures and more.  For those with some watercolor experience.  Bring basic watercolor supplies, plus tracing paper and a wide black marker.  Class is held at Gallery G in the Northrup King Building.

Is spring in sight?   Join fellow art lovers at this monthly open house of studios, galleries, workshops and showrooms.   Gallery G will be showing some new smaller original paintings that I have been working on this winter, as well as a couple of large oils on canvas that are in the process -- I hope to finish them by then!  I've been travelling a bit, so I will also display some of my watercolor travel journals.  This is no  April Fool's Joke -- please stop by and say hi. STONE ARCH FESTIVAL ART FAIR  10 AM TO 6 PM     Over 250 artists set up their tents and booths on the east bank of the Mississippi River along St Anthony Main in the old historic area of Minneapolis.  There's non-stop musical performances, children's activities, classic cars and all the favorite foods we Minnesotans love at a festival.  I'll be in Booth #14 across the street from Kikugawa. Wind up those lazy hazy crazy days of summer with a stroll through the Northrup King Building where most of the  150 artists' studios galleries and workshops will be open to the public.  There's free corn on the cob (while it lasts) courtesy of the NKB management.  I'm working with a new kind of paint this summer -- stop in and see the results.

Back to school, back to work, back to making more art!  It really doesn't feel like work to me, but it's time to start producing new paintings for the upcoming fall and winter shows.  I'm usually working at the studio Tuesdays through Fridays, and you're welcome to stop by anytime.  Do phone first, though -- 612-961-7075. I go out to lunch, go the the art store, the printer, the dentist, etc.  But I'm always there for First Thursday -- and so are about 150 other artists,with lots to see.
